The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has launched an investigation into an incident on Saturday night appearing to involve Durham fast bowler Brydon Carse.A video emerged on social media of Carse, who was part of the England squad that won the first Test against Pakistan but did not play at Headingley, appearing to be led away from a nightclub in Derby by police in handcuffs.In the video the South African-born Carse, 31, is surrounded by four police officers outside Molly Malone’s Irish Tavern on Saturday night after playing for Durham in their thrilling County Championship victory over Derbyshire, completed late on the third day.According to The Telegraph, Carse was briefly detained at the scene but not arrested. The Athletic has approached Derbyshire Police for comment. The ECB must now decide whether he will retain his place in the squad for the second Test that begins at Lord’s on Thursday.A spokesperson for the ECB said in a statement: “We are aware of an incident which is reported to have taken place in Derby last night (Saturday) and are currently investigating. We will provide a further update when possible.”In the video his Durham team-mate Matthew Potts, an international team-mate, is seen talking to police while former England captain Ben Stokes, who retired during the final Test against New Zealand at Trent Bridge earlier this summer, is seen in the background.
