Hill-Lewis reflects on five years of progress and challenges in Cape Town

City of Cape Town mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis said on Thursday the last five years have flown by, but it did not feel quite long enough.

Delivering his final speech at the last council meeting for the term, Hill-Lewis said Cape Town is in a good place.

“We still have many challenges, but five years on, Cape Town is a stronger, more productive, more inclusive, and more caring city than when we started,” he said.

The mayor said the City had set out on a journey to turn Cape Town into a beacon of hope for South Africa, and a city of hope for all who live in it.
