Dychtwald's growing focus: "I'm trying to take on projects that I think are legacy projects. For example, the documentary maker James Keach asked if he could do one about my work and my ideas. It's a weird thing when you get a bit older. If you stay in the game, you have superpowers you may not even know you have."
Dale Atkins, a psychologist who advises women about embracing possibilities in their 70s, has shunned the word "retirement" because she believes it's too negative: "Your work during your career was a chapter - a big chapter - but the book is not finished. What are your next chapters going to be?"
She's taking the "new chapters" literally. This year, Atkins, 78, published her first two children's books, "The Turquoise Butterfly" and "Dear Deer." "And I have another children's book in mind. It's a very exciting time," she said.
