China’s humanoid robot clocks 9.39 seconds to beat Usain Bolt’s 100m record [Courtesy]
A humanoid robot ran the 100-metre dash in 9.39 seconds on Saturday, August 21, beating Usain Bolt’s famous 2009 world record of 9.58 seconds.
In a viral clip seen by TNX Africa, several human-like robots raced down a running track as crowds cheered them on.
The machines ran at different speeds before crashing into a soft landing pad and falling over at the end of the race. Staff members then had to carry one of the robots away on a stretcher.
The winning humanoid robot, dubbed ‘Lightning’, was built by Beijing-based company X-Humanoid.
