Clashes erupted Saturday night at a closed migrant facility in Sintiki, near Serres in northern Greece, after migrants allegedly threw stones and other objects at police and damaged the facility.
The violence began shortly after 9 p.m. when a group of migrants reportedly tore down part of an internal fence and attacked police with stones.
Buildings, common areas, security cameras, firefighting equipment and service vehicles were damaged. One entire wing was destroyed, forcing residents to move to another part of the facility.
Heavy police reinforcements were deployed, including a riot police unit from Thessaloniki. An ambulance and fire truck also responded. The unrest lasted more than three hours.
Ten people were arrested, and three were taken to a hospital for minor injuries.
