Barcelona coach Hansi Flick has confirmed new signing Rodri will miss Sunday’s La Liga opener against Elche, but the midfielder could make his debut against Athletic Bilbao next week.

Rodri joined Barcelona from Manchester City in a deal that could reach 76.5 million euros, with Flick revealing that the Spain international is expected to link up with the squad on Monday.

“He’s very concentrated, focused, our plan is that he will arrive on Monday with the team,” Flick said.

“This is the plan. He’s a fantastic player, a leader, and his personality is very great.”

Barcelona are still searching for another striker after Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres left the club, leaving Flick with several options for the opening game.
