KCB Rugby, Kabras Sugar, Menengai Oilers and Daystar Falcons have booked their places in the Driftwood Sevens quarter-finals after making strong starts to the third leg of the National Sevens Circuit at Mombasa Sports Club on Saturday.

The four sides finished the opening two rounds with results good enough to secure their places in the last eight, while Kenya Harlequin and Strathmore Leos were left fighting to salvage pride after failing to win either of their matches.

KCB continued their push for the circuit title with two important wins. The bankers opened their campaign with a 22-5 victory over Kisumu RFC before edging Uganda 7s 12-7 in their second match. The two wins underline KCB’s consistency after they had also been among the leading teams in the opening legs. With points at stake in Mombasa, the bankers know that a strong run at Driftwood could move them closer to the top of the standings and strengthen their bid for the overall title.
