A major fire broke out at a warehouse in Russia’s St. Petersburg overnight on August 23, with the blaze covering more than 80,000 square meters

The fire broke out at a warehouse in the Izhor Industrial Zone. The building measures 680 by 120 meters.

The fire was assigned the fourth level of complexity. According to Russia’s Emergency Situations Ministry, the area affected by the fire grew from 22,000 to 82,000 square meters within several hours. Rescuers and aircraft are working at the scene, while the cause of the fire is being established.

“Various goods and products are stored inside,” the Ministry said.
