Westbury residents in Johannesburg say they are living in fear as escalating gang violence brings almost daily gunfire to the community. Community activist Eugene Dooms says 22 people have been killed between July and August amid a violent turf and drug war involving the Varados and Fast Guns.
Residents in Westbury in Johannesburg continue to live in fear as gunfire rings out in the area daily.
Currently, two prominent violent street gangs, the Varados and Fast Guns, are holding their community at ransom.
The two gangs are currently involved in a violent turf and drug war.
Speaking to IOL, community activist from One Force SA, Eugene Dooms, said the ongoing gang violence has a devastating effect on the community.
