America's top cattle trade group is pushing back hard against President Donald Trump's plan to ease beef prices, calling it election-year theater rather than sound policy.
Industry Says Timing Reveals Political Motive On Friday, the National Cattlemen's Beef Association, representing more than 175,000 producers, said that Trump's move to allow 300,000 metric tons of tariff-free beef imports over 90 days would hurt ranchers more than help consumers.
In a post on X, the group said the announcement was not about supporting producers, but was "100% about the 74 days" until midterm elections.
