Hull City defender, Semi Ajayi, has described it as amazing to score his side’s opening Premier League goal of the season while helping the newly promoted Tigers stun Manchester United 2-0 at the MKM Stadium on Saturday, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

The Nigeria international struck in the seventeenth minute to hand Hull the lead, before debutant Noah Mendy doubled the advantage in the first half, sealing a memorable win on the club’s return to the top flight after nine years away.

Speaking to TNT Sports after the game, Ajayi said his goal, his first in the Premier League since Hull’s return to the division, capped an impressive start by his side.

“It was amazing. It kind of capped off the really good start that we had. We had a couple of chances before that which we didn’t manage to put away, but obviously that one got us into the lead, and also gave us something to protect, but also build on,” Ajayi said.

The 32-year-old, who scored just once last season, pounced on a rebound after Manchester United goalkeeper Senne Lammens denied Oli McBurnie from a corner.
