No. 9 Ole Miss is another week closer to kickoff against No. 24 Louisville in Nashville at Nissan Stadium. Fall camp in Oxford will end over the weekend as the Rebels will transition to a game-week approach following Saturday’s scrimmage, giving them two weeks to prepare for the Cardinals. In episode 89 of The Rebel Rundown Podcast, Ole Miss On SI’s Tyler Komis and co-host Bailey Flanders review the last week in the Manning Center. The two also go over the recent court rulings involving former Ole Miss starters Dae’Quan Wright, Zxavian Harris and Wydett Williams and what it means, or doesn’t mean, for Ole Miss football. Each were members of the 2022 high school recruiting cycle and were among the 32 athletes initially granted another year of collegiate eligibility, despite signing professional contracts. To close off this week’s episode, they also take a look at what factors could catapult or hold back the Rebels on the gridiron in 2026. What Pete Golding said about possible roster additions Ole Miss Head Coach Pete Golding reacts to a play during the CFP Fiesta Bowl against Miami at the State Farm Stadium, in Glendale, Ariz., on Thursday, Jan. 8, 2026. | USA TODAY Network via Reuters ConnectEarlier this month, Ole Miss’ first-year head coach talked about the possibility of bringing back eligible players, but it would take a specific scenario. “I think under the guidelines that were already in place since I had taken the job we’ve managed this roster and this team based on those rules. I think the timing of this isn’t perfect to create a lot of opportunities for certain people when you already have a roster limit,” Golding previously explained. “There’s no new additions and umbrellas like they did with COVID or anything like that. Yes, obviously there was conversations with a couple of those guys from ‘22 that are in other camps. Kind of talking what’s the health of those guys? What’s the status? What’s that look like? But more from a standpoint of if somebody was to get injured during camp and something became available, then you’d have a body to go to that’s actually been in this system and all those type of things. Our numbers are what they are right now and we’re where we need to be, but definitely there’s been conversations in case something was to occur that we would need to go that direction.” Ole Miss and Louisville remain just 15 days away from meeting for the first time since 2021, also marking the season's first top-25 ranked matchup.
