The Oregon Ducks have more than Saturdays to look forward to in the fall. Fridays as well, with the future of the program on display across the nation. Duck fans certainly have a new reason to look forward to running back CaDarius McMiller coming to Eugene. Following one epic highlight that shines a light on his uncanny athleticism. He faced up to seven in the box too, and still out-raced every single defender. The now senior looked like he hit his top speed the moment his foot touched the line of scrimmage. But then still turned up the jets to finish off the long scoring scamper as Tyler held a pre-season opener scrimmage of Friday. While McMiller broke that run during a "practice" scenario, it's still enough to draw new intrigue about his potential once he's inside Autzen Stadium. It shows Duck fans that he's unafraid to turn up the speed the moment a hole opens up, then forces defenders to watch the back of his cleats from there. Regardless of who the head coach is roaming around the Ducks' facility. He brings his own track and field background, as even coach Dan Lanning is all about landing speed. McMiller reportedly hits a time of 10.59 seconds in the 100-meter dash during the spring sport. He even topped 10.63 as a freshman for Tyler High, showing his immediately straight line burner potential. Lanning and the Oregon coaching staff don't just bottle themselves to go after speed at wide receiver. Even with names like five-star wideout Dakota Guerrant and versatile Xavier Sabb adding some extra explosive wheels into that room. They want guys who can fly at other positions, especially the backfield. So McMiller fits the bill of what Oregon seeks at the skill positions areas especially got guys taking handoffs. It shows Oregon can have accelerators who do more than run slant and post routes, but can gash the "A" and "B" gaps with relentless speed. Both can come back next season as well, which can leave fans thinking McMiller may need to wait his turn. But that's not the case for the fall of 2027. McMiller's speed can become hard to turn down, especially in attacking through "off tackle" and counter plays, as Oregon can take advantage of his legs down the road. His biggest key will be trusting his power when facing larger, more athletic defenders in the Big Ten. It'll start with spring practices assuming if McMiller enrolls early and takes part in those sessions. But regardless, McMiller brings the head-turning speed that can expand the ground game for the future.
