Türkiye further argued that the Israeli government’s criticism of Erdoğan reflected concern over Ankara’s position on the conflict and its continued criticism of Israel.
Türkiye has condemned the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu’s Office for its attack on President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, accusing the government of using “cheap politics” to evade accountability over alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity.
In a statement responding to remarks targeting Erdoğan, the Turkish government said the comments were “devoid of historical fact and political seriousness,” describing them as another indication of the Israeli administration’s alleged efforts to avoid scrutiny over its conduct.
“The outrageous ravings of the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office targeting our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, devoid of historical fact and political seriousness, are yet another indication of the helplessness of an administration seeking to evade accountability for war crimes and crimes against humanity,” Türkiye said.
The Turkish government also accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his associates of attempting to use attacks against Erdoğan for political advantage, particularly as Israel’s election campaign becomes increasingly focused on security issues.
