At least two children were feared dead in Gandun Sarki after a building collapsed while occupants were asleep, while several other members of the family were injured and hospitalised.
Several families have been forced to flee their homes after a heavy downpour triggered widespread flooding and building collapses in Gandun Sarki community, Malam Madori Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
The disaster, which occurred during a downpour that lasted for more than an hour on Thursday night, reportedly affected several communities across the Hadejia Senatorial District, destroying houses, submerging homes and farmlands, and leaving residents scrambling for safety.

According to PUNCH, reports from the affected community indicated that more than 20 houses collapsed during the downpour, with several other residential buildings either completely submerged by floodwaters or surrounded by rising water.
