Guinea has officially declared its intention to bid to host the 2032 or 2036 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), signalling a major push to bring the continent’s flagship football tournament to the West African nation.
Guinean Sports Minister Mamadou Cellou Baldé confirmed that the country has submitted its official candidacy, with the government making hosting the continental tournament a national priority.

“Guinea will be a candidate to host the Africa Cup of Nations, either in 2032 or 2036,” Baldé said.
He added that the prime minister signed the official application letter on behalf of President Mamadi Doumbouya.
