Joe Burrow has spent the offseason making it clear that the Cincinnati Bengals can't afford to waste another year. The urgency has shown in how Burrow has approached his leadership. The star quarterback has become more vocal and demanding behind the scenes. He recently said he's "tired of saying next year" after Cincinnati missed the playoffs in three consecutive seasons.Burrow took that message a step further during a recent feature with ESPN's Marry Smith, revealing to Smith that he feels the same pressure as everyone else in the organization.Burrow: 'I'm Playing For My Job This Year'Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow (9) watches the video board as he walks off the field after throwing an interception in the fourth quarter of the NFL Week 10 game between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Houston Texans at Paycor Stadium in downtown Cincinnati on Sunday, Nov. 12, 2023. | USA TODAY Network via Reuters Connect"Yeah, I'm right there with them," Burrow told Smith. "I think, you know, I've tried to instill an urgency in the room, a palpable pressure — because we have guys playing and coaching for their jobs this year, and that's how I'm looking at it. I'm playing for my job this year."It's a notable comment from the franchise's face, but it aligns well with Burrow's consistent approach during the offseason. The Bengals went 6-11 last season and responded by aggressively reshaping their defense, adding Dexter Lawrence, Jonathan Allen, Boye Mafe, and Bryan Cook. They then selected Cashius Howell in the second round of the NFL Draft and later added cornerback Tacario Davis. Burrow has repeatedly expressed confidence in the roster, even saying the team has "everything we need."That leaves little room for excuses."I think guys want to go out and be great," Burrow continued. "If you don't have urgency on the day-to-day to get better and go and attack every single drill and rep with the intent to get better, you're not going to get there. So we have the team to do it this year, and so we have to take advantage of the opportunity."Burrow has previously called this the deepest Bengals roster of his career and compared its potential to his 2019 LSU team, which went undefeated and won the National Championship. Now, the difficult part: turning that talent into wins. After three straight seasons without a playoff appearance, Burrow is approaching the 2026 season like it's do-or-die. It's no longer just another year in Cincinnati — Burrow is treating it as if that window needs to be taken advantage of right now. If that doesn't happen, his Bengals teammates and coaches could be looking for new teams, and Burrow could find himself in the middle of the rumor mill.Watch Burrow's comments below:Add us as a preferred source on GoogleFollow
