President Donald Trump couldn’t help but muse about getting more votes than the late Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) while delivering remarks at a campaign event for his sister, Sen. Darline Graham (R-S.C.), on Friday. “Darline Graham has devoted her entire life to the people of the state, just like her brother. He was so— that’s all he talked about, was South Carolina. He was driving me crazy. I love the people!” Trump said to the crowd in Myrtle Beach. “Yet I got higher votes than him. Explain that, Darline.” Trump began to highlight his reasons why South Carolina voters should give Darline Graham a full term in the Senate after nearly 39 minutes of his more than hour-long remarks. “For years, Darline led an important state agency with 130 employees, and she ran it impeccably, and a $90 million budget. She served on the South Carolina Workforce Development Board, which was legendary to help working families,” Trump said.Darline Graham, for her part, only spoke for roughly three minutes, after 44 minutes of Trump speaking. “Thank you for your endorsement. It has meant the world to me. Thank you for your support. Thank you for coming to South Carolina. This is MAGA country, right?” Darline Graham said. She later led the crowd in a chant.“We love President Trump in South Carolina, don’t we? Yes, we do! This is Trump country. Yeah. USA! USA! USA! USA!”The rest of the event included Trump attacking Hillary Clinton and former President Joe Biden, claiming the U.S. controls the Strait of Hormuz, and calling “affordability” a scam. Darline Graham will vie for a full six-year Senate term in a runoff election on Aug. 25, after being appointed to serve out the rest of her brother’s term following his death last month.
