The Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) has declared that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s newly constituted campaign council is destined to fail, describing the team as an assembly of ‘yes men’ and politically discredited figures ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

For the party, the issue goes beyond the personalities on the list. It said the composition of the council reflects what it considers Tinubu’s declining political standing and inability to attract credible figures with the public goodwill, loyalty and confidence needed to prosecute a winning presidential campaign.

APM National Publicity Secretary, Abubakar Yusuf, stated this in a statement on Saturday, in which the party particularly attacked the appointment of former Zamfara State Governor, Abdul-Aziz Yari, as Director-General of the campaign. It alleged that insecurity and poor living conditions worsened in Zamfara under Yari’s administration.

“If after three and half years in power, President Tinubu could not garner the capacity to assemble a credible team, then it is clear that indeed he has no business being in charge of a nation as complex and demanding as Nigeria,” Yusuf said.
