Puri, Authorities of Puri's Jagannath Temple on Saturday announced that the inventory of the Ratna Bhandar (temple treasury) would be conducted on August 31 and September 1.The previous inventory of the treasury was held on July 19 when the sibling deities -- Lord Balabhadra, Devi Subhadra and Lord Jagannath -- were on their annual sojourn to the Shree Gundicha Temple during Rath Yatra."The next Ratna Bhandar inventory would be conducted on August 31 and September 1," Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) chief administrator Arabinda Padhee said.He said these two dates were finalised for the listing of the valuables at the temple treasury to ensure that the daily rituals of the deities and devotees were not disrupted.Padhee said all the guidelines and protocols laid down in the standard operating procedure (SoP) of the Odisha government will be followed during the process. He sought full cooperation of the servitors and devotees for the smooth conduct of the inventory.During the inventory, the ornaments and valuables are videographed, photographed and 3D mapped. The process began on March 25, 2025 after a gap of 48 years, official sources said.For the first time, gemologists and RBI officials are also engaged in the exercise along with expert goldsmiths. However, there is no provision for ascertaining the valuation of the items and the exercise is limited to documentation and verification, officials said.
