The Springboks will look to Ox Nché to deliver at scrum time and provide powerful carries to generate crucial go-forward ball against the All Blacks on Saturday.
The Springboks are set for their toughest examination of the season so far when they face the All Blacks in the first Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry Test at Ellis Park on Saturday afternoon (5.10pm kick-off).
While they have comfortably dispatched England, Scotland and Wales in the Nations Championship at home, the challenge from the New Zealanders will be a different proposition altogether. The world champions can expect a fast-paced clash, with the Kiwis likely to match them physically and look to outmuscle them in key areas.
IOL Sport takes a look at the key areas where the Boks could get the upper hand.
Ox Nché is back from his injury, with Wilco Louw on the other side of the Springbok scrum, and they will be licking their lips to pack down for the first one of the afternoon. It wouldn’t be a surprise if the Boks try to manufacture a scrum early on to get the two scrummagers and hooker Malcolm Marx into the game. It is something they tried in the past to gain early momentum.
