TikTok and ByteDance settle US privacy allegations for $400 million, enhancing protections for children's online data.

TikTok and ByteDance agreed to a $400 million settlement to resolve allegations of violating children's online privacy by failing to obtain parental consent for users under 13.

The settlement includes an immediate payment of $300 million and an additional $100 million contingent upon vacating a prior consent decree with the FTC related to TikTok's predecessor, Musical.ly.
