The Boston College men’s basketball program announced the addition of five new staff members, mostly on the player development side, for the 2026-27 campaign under first-year head coach Luke Murray on Friday afternoon.Jared Jordan will serve as the Eagles’ new director of player development, Andre Berry and Gilvydas Biruta will assist Jordan in that department, Chris Mastrangelo will become the director of basketball administration, and Charlie Weisberg joins as a graduate assistant.— BC Men's Basketball (@BCMBB) August 21, 2026A native of Hartford, Conn., Jordan played professional basketball overseas for 13 years with stops in Germany, Greece, Romania, and Spain. During his stint in the German Bundesliga, he led the league in assists three times (2016-18) and finished his career as the all-time assists leader.Jordan’s collegiate career at Marist consisted of being recognized as an AP Honorable Mention All-American in 2007 after leading the NCAA in assists for back-to-back seasons. He was honored with the Haggerty Award, awarded annually to the top men’s college basketball player from an NCAA Division I school in the New York metropolitan area, as a senior before the Los Angeles Clippers selected him No. 45 overall in the 2007 NBA Draft."I'm thrilled to bring Jared and his family to Boston College,” Murray said in the press release. “When putting together a coaching staff, recruiting a diverse set of experiences and points of view was crucial to me. He knows modern basketball, and his deep understanding of the international game will help us align our player development efforts with our style of play."Jordan’s two assistants, Berry and Biruta, both have distinguished collegiate and professional basketball backgrounds as well.Berry spent the last four seasons at UConn as a player development assistant under head coach Dan Hurley, where he contributed to a pair of national championship runs.Prior to his coaching career, he played at Rhode Island from 2015-18, helping the Rams reach the NCAA Tournament twice and capture the 2017 Atlantic 10 championship and the 2018 A-10 regular-season title.Berry played overseas for a total of four years in three different countries — Spain, Finland, and Ireland.Biruta joins the staff after serving as a video coordinator and player development coach for the Windy City Bulls, the G-League affiliate of the Chicago Bulls, for one year. Before that, spent the 2024-25 season as an assistant coach for the Grand Rapids Gold, the Denver Nuggets minor-league side.Biruta finished his collegiate basketball career as a 1,200-point scorer across two different programs, URI and Rutgers, and then spent the 2015 summer with the Nuggets Summer League squad. The Lithuanian went overseas for the next eight years and played with 10 different international franchises until 2023. He also competed for his country at the 2007 FIBA Europe U-16 and 2008 FIBA Europe U-18 Championships.Mastrangelo comes to the Heights after one year at St. Peter’s as the director of basketball operations. Before that, he spent seven years under Hurley with the Huskies, starting out as a student manager from 2018-21, then a graduate assistant from 2021-23, and assistant director of basketball operations from 2023-25.“Chris is a worker,” Murray said. “During his time at Connecticut, Chris proved himself to be a true team guy, and someone who exhibits great commitment and loyalty. We're really pleased to welcome him to BC."Last is Weisberg, who is beginning his coaching career with the Eagles after playing at Skidmore College from 2024-26 and Loyola Maryland during the 2021-22 and 2023-24 campaigns.Wiesberg was recommended to Murray by former Loyola, Rutgers, and UConn guard Cam Spencer, who is now a member of the Memphis Grizzlies.
