Travis Kelce success advice: “Don’t be afraid to get yelled at” – The mindset that helped Travis Kelce turn setbacks into one of the greatest NFL careers (Image via Getty: Travis Kelce)Travis Kelce is 36, married to Taylor Swift, and reportedly the most talked-about celebrity newlywed on the planet right now. You'd think that's enough main character energy for one summer. Instead, the man showed up to his 14th training camp and worked so hard that his own coach had to physically pull him off the field. Andy Reid confirmed it himself after Chiefs camp wrapped Thursday. Kelce is the oldest guy on the roster, and he's out there outworking rookies half his age. Retirement talk? He clearly didn't get the memo.Andy Reid says he had to "yank" Kelce out of practiceReid didn't hold back when reporters asked about his veterans setting the tone for a Chiefs roster that's now the second-youngest in the NFL. "You have examples like Kelce, he's the oldest guy on the team and came out every day and worked to where you had to yank him out of there to give him a breather," Reid said. That's not a one-off compliment either; beat reporter Steve Walls got Reid saying almost the same thing when Reid admitted he has to physically pull Kelce because otherwise "he'll stay out on every play." Translation: this man does not know how to take a rest day, and his coaching staff has basically had to install a mandatory bench.Linebacker Nick Bolton backed it up too, saying there's "no excuses when you have the old guy out there running routes." Honestly? Good. If your 36-year-old tight end is the hardest worker in the building, that's the kind of leadership a team coming off a rough 6-11 season actually needs. Kelce could easily be coasting on his Swift-era fame and legacy status. Instead, he's making Bolton and the rookies feel embarrassed for complaining. That's the kind of energy one wants from a guy who's already got a Super Bowl ring and now a wedding ring this year. Why this camp mattered more than usual for Kelce and the ChiefsThis isn't just a feel-good training camp anecdote, context matters here. The Chiefs are trying to bounce back from a disappointing 2025 season, and Kelce's return also meant a reunion with offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, who's back in Kansas City this year.Reid said Kelce's been giving Bieniemy "the business" all camp, calling it "always entertaining" and something that "keeps everybody on their toes." Kelce himself said Bieniemy's intensity is "infectious" and admitted the coach's demanding style will "piss you off" in the best way.Add to that the fact that Kelce and Swift are freshly married after their July 3 wedding, and this camp arguably could've been a victory lap season for him. Instead, he's out there earning water breaks the hard way. Chiefs fans, and honestly the rest of the NFL, should be taking notes from the guy with the least left to prove is the one refusing to prove it any less.
