Milwaukee Brewers infield prospect Luis Peña is off to a solid start at the plate in his first stint with the Double-A Biloxi Shuckers. Peña, Milwaukee's No. 2 prospect for 2026 on MLB Pipeline, hit his first Double-A home run on Thursday. The righty-swinging infielder turned on a 2-1 pitch for a solo shot in Biloxi's 4-2 victory over the Rocket City Trash Pandas, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels. While the 19-year-old isn't exactly known as a power hitter, he left the yard in just his third game with the Shuckers. Milwaukee promoted Peña to Double-A earlier this week, and the top prospect hasn't skipped a beat since joining his new team. It's obviously not the largest sample size yet, but the young infielder has recorded at least one hit in all three games he's played with Biloxi so far. While that's an encouraging start to his time with the Shuckers, the Brewers will undoubtedly be keeping a close eye on how Peña performs at Double-A over the final weeks of the 2026 season. He's 4-for-12 with one homer, three RBIs, and two runs scored through his first three Double-A games. Counting his last High-A appearance before his promotion, the young infielder is on a four-game hitting streak. Aside from his instant success at the plate in Double-A, it's also noteworthy that Biloxi has used Peña at third base in all three games with the Shuckers so far. The 19-year-old has mostly played shortstop throughout his professional career. But with Brewers prospect Jesús Made likely to see most of the playing time at shortstop for the Shuckers, Peña will seemingly move around the infield. This also means that power-hitting prospect Andrew Fischer will probably spend more time at first base or as the designated hitter while the recently promoted infielder plays third base. Regardless, many Milwaukee fans are likely excited to see what Peña and the rest of the franchise's top prospects in Double-A have in store for the remainder of the minor league season.
