A University of Kentucky cheerleader told a hushed courtroom: 'I deprived him of oxygen' as she pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of her newborn son.

Laken Snelling, 22, sobbed in a Kentucky court Friday, almost a year to the day after the infant was found stuffed inside a trash bag at a house in Lexington.

Through tears, she told the courtroom: 'I was under a lot of emotional stress and my baby came unexpectedly.

'And instead of helping him, I ended his life. And afterwards I cleaned up and didn’t tell anyone.'

It was when Judge Diane Minnifield asked Snelling how she'd killed her baby that Snelling made the remark about depriving him of oxygen, WLEX reported.
