Why Kylie Kelce refuses to make Jason Kelce her workout partner despite their decade-long marriageImage credit (Instagram)Kylie Kelce and Jason Kelce have spent years doing life together, from raising four daughters to navigating Jason’s NFL retirement. But there is one part of their routine Kylie would rather keep separate: working out. Her latest comments make it clear that the former Philadelphia Eagles center may be the last person she wants beside her during a gym session.Recently, Kylie joined Olympic rugby medalist Ilona Maher for Power Hour where the conversation quickly turned to Jason. When Maher asked if the couple ever worked out together, Kylie delivered a brutally honest answer that says plenty about their very different approaches to fitness.Kylie Kelce has a simple reason for avoiding Jason Kelce at the gymIn a trailer for Ilona Maher’s Power Hour, Maher asked Kylie if she had ever worked out with Jason. However, Kylie did not hesitate.“God, no. I don’t hate myself that much,” Kylie said in the “Power Hour” trailer after Maher asked about exercising with Jason. It was funny, but Kylie had a real reason behind the joke. The couple have lifted together a few times, yet Jason’s approach can make things more complicated for her. The former Philadelphia Eagles center spent 13 seasons training at the highest level of football, so he pays close attention to form and technique.Kylie learned that firsthand during one workout at home. She recalled trying a Romanian deadlift while Jason watched. Instead of simply letting her finish, she asked him to critique her form. Jason’s response was hardly the coaching session she expected.“After a minute of me doing it, I was like, ‘Critique my form,’” Kylie recalled. Jason told her he was “really distracted,” prompting Kylie to call him “useless.”That exchange also explains why Kylie’s latest comments are more than just a marriage joke. She has previously admitted that Jason is extremely particular about technique.During a 2024 interview with “Elite Daily”, Kylie explained that she and Jason had lifted together a few times but rarely found the time to exercise at the same moment. Their schedules often force them to split responsibilities at home. If one person works out, the other usually stays with the children.Kylie also made it clear that she does not necessarily want that arrangement to change. Jason’s training style is another reason. Kylie described him as “such a stickler about technique” and admitted she was not sure she wanted regular criticism from someone who spent many years lifting professionally.Jason Kelce takes his fitness seriously, even after leaving the NFLThe irony is that Kylie Kelce still wants Jason to keep exercising. After Jason Kelce retired from the Eagles, he spoke about his new routine during an appearance on Green Light with Chris Long. He said Kylie wanted him to work out at least three times a week.“She just implemented this,” Jason said on the podcast. “But she said I have to work out a minimum of three days a week. Otherwise, she doesn’t want to deal with me.”Jason also explained why exercise matters to him beyond staying in shape. He said he feels happier, more productive and better with his family after working out.Kylie has her own fitness preferences. She told Elite Daily that she enjoys Peloton workouts, walking, Pilates and yoga. She also likes structured classes because they remind her of her days as an athlete, when coaches told her exactly what to do.So, the Kelces may share almost everything at home, but the gym is clearly different. Kylie wants her workouts to fit her style. Jason wants to focus on technique. And judging by her latest confession, keeping some distance may be exactly what keeps their workouts, and their marriage, fun.
