There doesn’t seem to be much that Jalyx Hunt can’t do on a football field. The Eagles outside linebacker has arguably been at the top of the list of the top performers during the two days of joint practices against the New England Patriots in Foxboro, based on reports by those in attendance.On Wednesday’s first day, he showed an explosion in his pass rush with a consistent presence in the Patriots’ backfield. He won his one-on-one reps against New England’s left tackle, Will Campbell, the fourth overall pick in the 2025 draft, and some reporters saw him jawing with Patriots coach Mike Vrabel after a heated rep.Hunt simply won’t back down.“You've seen him now all summer,” said Jordan Davis, after Day 2 of joint practices concluded on Thursday. “It seems like he's ready to take a big step.”Speaking of Day 2 and that big step, Hunt put on another A+ performance. He made plays in both the run and pass game – like he did last year in his second season, becoming the first player in team history to lead in sacks (6.5) and interceptions (3). "Each day I’m stacking because I’m accomplishing goals. Each day, I set a goal - what I want to look like today, what I want to do today, and how I wlll approach it. When I accomplish it, it stacks and stacks and stacks. So, accomplishing the small things each and every day has been steadily building my confidence.”About the only thing Hunt doesn’t do anymore on the field is fetch the Rita’s water ice doled out daily at Eagles training camp after practice to deliver to teammates. It's a rookie ritual, and Hunt is beyond that. Now, he looks like he is on the brink of stardom.“Just seeing Jalyx go through his progressions from year one, year two, year three; like year one, nobody was talking about Jalyx,” said Davis. “Nobody was knowing him. In year two, he kind of molded into his shell, and now he's growing into a player that, you know, we all know he's capable of.“And just to see him go out there and ball out and not also be a force in coverage, but be a force in a rush, too. It's like a Swiss Army knife, and you love to have players like that.”No doubt the Eagles love him, but it’s tricky. He was a third-round pick in 2024, but a pair of All-Pros were taken ahead of him – Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean.
