According to the police, the Commissioner directed that any officer found culpable should face appropriate disciplinary action in accordance with existing laws and regulations.
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has invited Sunday Michael Ogwu, Editor of Pinnacle Daily, to appear at its headquarters and make an official statement over his allegation that police officers assaulted him while he was documenting a demolition exercise in Lugbe, Abuja.
The invitation, contained in a statement issued on Friday by the Command’s spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, followed videos circulated by Ogwu on social media since Wednesday, August 19, in which he alleged that officers attached to the Lugbe Police Station assaulted him.
The Command said the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, immediately ordered a thorough investigation into the allegation.
