Young investors in the cryptocurrency space are recording a buy to sell ratio of 0.65, as per Q2 data, stressed by macro uncertainty and a preference to actively realise gains.Investors in the 18–25 year age group recorded the highest selling activity in Q2, as per data collacted by CoinSwitch. The trend weakened among investors aged 46 years and above, recording the highest buying conviction with a ratio of 1.14.“Age played an important role in shaping investment behaviour, with younger investors trading more actively while older investors demonstrated stronger buying conviction,” said CoinSwitch in its report.Preferences ShiftWhen asked Sharat Chandra, Founder, EmpowerEdge Ventures, said the trend is likely tied to the macro uncertainty and a preference to commit to corporate bonds or more traditional assets like gold. While Bitcoin picked up in August to $72,000, Chandra remained unsure of whether the spike will affect the youth preference towards selling.“No one can say for sure if Bitcoin will keep rising but bond prices will continue to rise. The war is also not over yet. That uncertainty also hangs over the macro landscape. So no clear answers,” he said.Meanwhile, buying conviction strengthened progressively with age, with investors aged 26–35 recording a ratio of 0.9, 36–45 at 1.10, and 46 and above at 1.14, making the oldest cohort the strongest net buyers during the quarter.Published on August 21, 2026
