The protesters forced their way through after pushing the gate, and marched towards the office and started raising slogans. The protesters were stopped by the staff from climbing the stairs leading to the Deputy Commissioner’s office on the first floor.Subsequently, Additional Deputy Commissioner Geetha C.D. pacified the protesters, received the memorandum, and assured them of forwarding their demands to the government. The crowd dispersed shortly after.Earlier, to register their protest, the protesters burnt old tyres and raised slogans demanding Mr. Nagendra’s resignation. While they were torching the old tyres, one of the protesters sprayed petrol over the tyres, and the sandal of another protester standing beside him caught fire. The fire was immediately doused.
