Nick Saban also changed offensive coordinators in the middle of the CFP in 2017 after feeling Kiffin was too conflicted working for Alabama and Florida Atlantic, where he had just been hired as head coach. This summer, with his Ole Miss relationship already at a boiling point, Kiffin cited the school’s racial history in a “Vanity Fair” story, saying recruits’ grandparents wouldn’t allow players to attend Ole Miss, which wasn’t a problem at LSU.No. 11 LSU hosts Clemson in its season opener on Sept. 5, while No. 9 Ole Miss will play No. 24 Louisville in Nashville a day later.
