Welcome back for another Sheriff of Sodium video. Every 2 years, the National Resident Matching Program [NRMP] releases one of the richest datasets in all of medical education, the Charting Outcomes in the Match reports.
Four new reports dropped this summer.
One for MDs, one for DOs, and one each for international medical graduates [IMGs] of the U.S. citizen and non-U.S. citizen variety. And if you haven't looked at these before, the majority of the most useful data that the NRMP provides are in these reports. You want to know the authentic specialty-specific match rates? They're in there. You want to know applicant USMLE [U.S. Medical Licensing Examination] scores or research output metrics or data on additional degrees or work experiences or number of ranks submitted? They got all that, too. All told, the NRMP just gave us 1,067 pages of new match data.
So, I don't need to tell you what time it is. I mean, you don't even need to look down at your watch. You can just keep your eyes fixed right here because it is time to break it down, winners and losers style.
