Walmart has announced that it will finally begin rolling out Apple Pay support next week. The retailer has resisted offering Apple Pay support for more than a decade, despite pressure from shoppers.

Apple Pay is finally coming to Walmart

Walmart announced the news in a press release today. The company will roll out contactless support, including Apple Pay, to select Walmart and Sam’s Club locations starting on August 24. The feature will come to all stores in the United States by the end of this year, as well as fuel stations by mid-2027.

Walmart is adding broad contactless payment support, so that includes Apple Pay on iPhone and Apple Watch, Google Pay, contactless cards, and other payment platforms. Shoppers will also be able to add their Walmart and Sam’s Club cards to Apple Wallet and other platforms. Contactless support will exist alongside existing payment methods, including Walmart Pay.
