Power utility Eskom has announced that 101 suppliers have been restricted from doing business with the utility for periods of up to 10 years.
This comes after the suppliers were subjected to the utility's supplier disciplinary process between February 2023 and March 2026, with the cases dating back to 2015 and most stemming from the 2016 to 2022 period.
Eskom said the restrictions followed consideration by its Supplier Review Committee and that all affected suppliers were given an opportunity to respond to the allegations before decisions were made.
“Fraud, corruption, procurement irregularities and supplier misconduct have affected public confidence and highlighted the need for decisive, transparent and sustainable consequence management across Eskom’s supply chain, and Eskom now aims to process and resolve newly referred supplier discipline cases within 90 days,” Dan Marokane, Eskom’s Group Chief Executive said
