At least 41 people in Minnesota and Wisconsin have been sickened, with 3 hospitalized, after eating alfalfa sprouts sold under 2 brand names

Everything Sprouts, a Minnesota alfalfa sprout grower, has been linked to a multistate outbreak of Shiga toxin-producing E. coli and Salmonella infections that has sickened at least 41 people across Minnesota and Wisconsin, health officials in both states warned yesterday.

The Minnesota Department of Health and Minnesota Department of Agriculture said 23 Minnesotans became ill between July 8 and Aug. 8, with two hospitalized. Wisconsin health officials confirmed 18 cases, with one person hospitalized. Three hospitalizations have been reported in total, according to ABC News. No deaths have been reported. Additional illnesses have been identified in other states, and health officials expect the case count to rise as the investigation continues.

The contaminated sprouts were sold under the Calco and Everything Sprouts brand names to restaurants and grocery stores, the Minnesota Department of Health said. Health officials in both states are advising anyone who has alfalfa sprouts from Calco or Everything Sprouts at home to throw them out immediately and avoid consuming them.
