Turkey has sought an Interpol red notice for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as part of an investigation into Israel’s interception of an aid flotilla bound for Gaza, Justice Minister Akin Gurlek said.

In a statement posted on X, Gurlek said the Justice Ministry had asked the Interior Ministry to seek red notices for Netanyahu and Afek Moskovitch, whom he described as an Israeli security figure.

A red notice is a request to law-enforcement agencies worldwide to locate and provisionally arrest a person wanted by a country or international tribunal, usually pending extradition proceedings.

Judicial proceedings are continuing before Istanbul’s 11th High Criminal Court against 35 defendants, including Netanyahu and Moskovitch, over the interception of the flotilla in international waters, Gurlek said.

Turkey issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and other senior Israeli officials last month, accusing them of genocide in connection with Israel’s military operations in Gaza. Gurlek said the warrants prompted the ministry to request the Interpol notices.
