A Ladysmith school has been forced to close after a water outage affecting large parts of the town entered its third week, with the Democratic Alliance (DA) calling for urgent intervention.
The water outage began on August 7 and continues to affect communities including Steadville and Acaciaville, according to the DA.
Ladysmith Secondary School confirmed in a letter to parents on August 20 that it had become non-operational.
The Department of Labour closed the school because of unhygienic conditions caused by the lack of water.
