Kyiv is nearly 90% ready for the upcoming heating season, Mayor Vitali Klitschko said.

Speaking to reporters, Klitschko said that the city’s primary task had been to restore its central heating system.

“First and foremost, we took on the task of restoring our central heating system. The restoration of the stations and preparations for the heating season are now almost 90% complete,” Klitschko said.

According to him, the second priority is to create a backup system capable of supplying the city with heat in the event that key energy facilities are destroyed.

Klitschko said that the city is working with the state to implement this plan and is considering various scenarios in the event of possible Russian attacks.
