Residents of Kongadai in Erode district being urged to ensure their children continue their education.
An awareness rally was organised in Kongadai, a hill village in Bargur block of Anthiyur taluk, on Thursday to prevent students from dropping out. The rally was jointly organised by VET Arts and Science College and Sathyamangalam-based non-governmental organisation Service Unit for Development Activities (SUDAR).The rally, led by SUDAR director S.C. Nataraj, was inaugurated by S. Selvakumar, a member of the Tamil Nadu Commission for Protection of Child Rights. Viswanathan, representing the District Child Protection Officer, and Gopalan, in-charge headmaster of Kongadai Tribal Residential Higher Secondary School, spoke on the occasion.School and college students participated in the rally, which passed through the streets of Kongadai, spreading awareness among residents on the importance of continuing education. The participants also visited the homes of schoolchildren and interacted with their parents to stress the importance of ensuring that children continue their education.
