The regulatory dispute between the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and global e-hailing giants Uber and Bolt has brought airport transit protocols under intense scrutiny.

The development escalated following an internal directive dated July 30, signed by U.R. Liman, General Manager of Commercial Services, ordering an immediate suspension of Uber and Bolt operations across all FAAN-managed airports pending formal license executions.

The enforcement led to immediate passenger disruptions, terminal congestion, and surging cab fares.

Following BusinessDay’s report highlighting the widespread operational disruption and public outcry, FAAN clarified that it had opened discussions with e-hailing firms to establish a unified operational framework, insisting its measures were aimed at ensuring security rather than enforcing a blanket ban.

Central to FAAN’s regulatory framework is ACHRAMS (Airport Car Hire Revenue and Access Management System), a platform designed to track airport commercial transportation and streamline concession revenue management.
