Turkiye’s solar power generation hits record high in July

Electricity generation from solar power in Türkiye reached an all-time high in July, rising 10.2 percent from the previous month to 5.4 terawatt-hours (TWh), according to data from the Energy Stock Market (EPİAŞ).

Solar energy’s share in total electricity generation increased to 15.6 percent, marking the highest level ever recorded for the month of July. For the third consecutive month, solar power generated a larger share of electricity than natural gas and domestic coal-fired power plants.

Wind power accounted for 12 percent of electricity generation in July, bringing the combined share of solar and wind energy to 27.6 percent.

Hydroelectric power generation rose 60 percent year-on-year to 9 TWh, marking the highest hydroelectric output ever recorded for a July period. Hydropower’s share of total electricity generation stood at 26.3 percent.
