Fifty women engineers unveiled industry-ready artificial intelligence solutions at the Demo Day for TechHER25, the maiden eight-week program by Techlytics Institute of Technology and Innovation held at the University of Ibadan.
The program, sponsored by IHS Nigeria in collaboration with the Faculty of Computing at the Univeristy of Ibadan, trained participants from May 7 in computer vision fundamentals to full deployments on edge AI hardware.
The cohort built and optimized models to run locally on devices without a network round trip to a hosted API.
Projects presented included an intelligent waste sorting and bin monitoring system that classifies refuse and reports fill levels for collection routing, and an automatic license plate recognition system for vehicle identification and access control.
Both systems used live camera feeds to process inference on site, demonstrating applications of AI in physical environments.
