Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman’s Consumer Protection Authority (CPA) has launched its seasonal “Back to School 2026” awareness campaign, aimed at strengthening consumer awareness and promoting responsible shopping ahead of the new academic year. The campaign runs from August 20 to September 6 under the slogan, “For a Stable and Safe Consumer Environment for All.” It focuses on raising awareness of consumer rights while encouraging consumers to make informed and responsible purchasing decisions during the busy back-to-school shopping period. As part of the campaign, the CPA is intensifying inspection activities across Oman’s governorates. Inspection teams will monitor markets and commercial establishments involved in the seasonal shopping period and verify suppliers’ compliance with applicable laws and regulations.The authority said the inspections are intended to help curb violations and practices that could negatively affect consumer rights and market stability. The campaign covers establishments and markets selling goods associated with the back-to-school season, as families prepare to purchase school supplies and other essential items.The initiative forms part of the CPA’s wider efforts to strengthen market oversight during major shopping seasons. Alongside enforcement measures, the authority is seeking to promote greater consumer awareness and encourage suppliers to comply with regulations.
