On Thursday, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani (D) condemned an alleged ISIS-inspired plot to use an explosive device to attack the New York State Capitol after federal authorities arrested and charged an Albany woman in connection with the scheme.
Mamdani Condemns Alleged New York Capitol Terror Plot
Mamdani called the alleged plot "deeply alarming" in a post on X, while sharing a statement from New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) about heightened security measures at the State Capitol.
"There is no place for terrorism or political violence, in our city, our state or anywhere in our country," Mamdani wrote.
In her post, Hochul said additional security measures were implemented at the Capitol earlier this year amid an increase in political violence and threats against public officials.
