The Federal Government has unveiled a fertility care centre and maternity complex built by the Northeast Development Commission inside the premises of the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital.
The solar-powered facility contains medical equipment, including an intracytoplasmic sperm injection machine, incubators, oxygen concentrators, Spermifuge, laboratory equipment and furniture, among others.
Addressing journalists shortly after the unveiling on Tuesday, in Maiduguri, the Minister of State for Regional Development, Uba Ahmadu, said the construction of the facility will prevent people from travelling out of the state and the region to seek healthcare.
He noted, “What we just witnessed is the commissioning of a world class fertility centre. The equipment you see in this building are the best you can find anywhere in the world”
