An Immigrant Family’s High Bar
Su, who was born in Taiwan and moved to the U.S. at age 2, described a childhood defined by rigorous academic expectations in a 2017 interview with The New York Times.
Her father, a statistician, reportedly drilled her on multiplication tables when she was only 5 years old. Her mother later built her own business connecting Taiwanese manufacturers with American companies.
