Charter Communications completed its acquisition of Cox Communications on Thursday, closing a $34.5 billion deal that creates the largest internet and video provider in the United States by subscriber count. Charter also simultaneously closed its acquisition of Liberty Broadband Corporation in an all-stock transaction.

The combined company now serves 37 million customers — Charter's existing 31 million plus the six million it gained from Cox — spanning 45 states, the company said. Charter stock fell 4.7% on Thursday.
