The Australian Government has condemned Israel's decision to close its investigation into the killing of Australian aid worker Zomi Frankcom and her World Central Kitchen colleagues in Gaza, saying the move falls far short of the accountability expected from Israel.

Australian Foreign Affairs Minister, Senator Penny Wong said the government is “outraged” by Israel's decision not to pursue criminal proceedings against those responsible for the deaths.

Wong disclosed this in a statement shared on her X handle on Thursday, saying Australia was informed of the decision only moments before it was publicly announced.

“The Australian Government learned of Israel's decision late last night, moments before it was announced, on World Humanitarian Day, which is especially insulting to Zomi's loved ones, humanitarians and all Australians,” Wong said.
