According to the group, the pattern of appointments and nominations in the state chapter created a perception that political opportunities were being concentrated in the hands of one faction, leaving several party members, leaders and communities disengaged.
A group of leaders and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has blamed the party’s defeat in the August 15 governorship election on what it described as the exclusion of large sections of the party from political appointments, elective positions and decision-making under the leadership of former Governor Gboyega Oyetola.
Oyetola is also President Bola Tinubu’s nephew.
The group under the name "Osun APC stakeholders forum" made the allegations in a letter addressed to President Tinubu, urging him to intervene in the crisis rocking the Osun APC and institute measures to rebuild the party ahead of future elections.
The letter was signed by Professor Akin Adeyanju, Coordinator, and Honourable Sola Ajayi, Secretary, on behalf of the group.
